Competition Dates

The competition finishes on Thursday 5th September 2024.

There are 14 nights available at the moment (this may change):

• 16th/23rd May
• 6th/13th/20th June
• 11th/18th/25th July
• 1st/8th/15th/22nd/29th August
• 5th September

Prizes

There are prizes at the end of the competition for the following:

• Top 3 places (based on Points, Shot Difference, Shots For and Touchers in that order),
• Winner of Red Team
• Winner of Blue Team
• Most Touchers
• Last Place

There are also surprise prizes during the season.

The first game always starts at 6.30pm, so be early............

Competition Dates

Entry Fee

The fee is £1 per player per night with an optional £1 per player Charity donation for the NI Hospice.

Number of Games

Two, maximum 3 games, 2 bowls per player (Triples 8 ends, Rinks 6 ends).

All Games

Players draw a card to decide which rink and team they are on for each game.

The Red Team ALWAYS goes first.

Position

Players may play any position in their first game but must not play in the same position two games in a row.

Touchers

Every toucher adds 1 shot for a team in the game and also counts towards the individual prizes for touchers.

Put a T beside the player that got a toucher, T2 for 2 touchers, T3 for 3 etc and add the total number of touchers shown beside the players to your final score.

Power Play

Each team MUST use a Power Play on one end each game and if they win the end, the number of shots in that end is doubled.

For example, if you get 3 shots, double to 6 and enter on the card 3 + 3.

However, if you LOSE the end, your opponent’s score is doubled and the card marked the same way on their side.

Circle the end your team has a power play.

Note: If both teams decide to use a Power Play on the same end, one team will win and one team will lose (unless it is no score*), so multiply the shots scored by the winning team by 4, not double - in the example above, the entry on the card would be 4 x 3 shots = 12 shots.

*If the end is No Score, any Power Plays on the end count as zero shots.

Note: Only a Skip can notify the opposition of a Power Play and it must be called before the Jack is delivered.

Penalty

If you forget to have a Power Play your final score is adjusted by -5 shots.

League Table

The competition will be run as a league with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and a bonus point for the team with most touchers in each game.

The player stats, match results and table will be updated each week and shown here on the website.

Scorecard Summary

The example scorecard above shows Players 2 and 4 in the Red Team had a toucher as did Player 3 in the Blue Team and Player 2 in the Blue Team had 2 touchers.

The Red Team won their Power Play on the second end and the Blue Team lost their Power Play on the fifth end.

The scores were level after six ends but the Blue Team won the game 14 - 13 as they had a total of 3 touchers and the Red Team only had 2.
